The mobile application is configured for your clinic. Some or all of the features discussed here may not be available in your clinic's app. Further, an updated version of the app must be published to both the Google Play and iOS stores for new features to become available. The timeline for this release is custom to your clinic. Please contact support if you have any questions. |
Beginning Tuesday May 19, 2020, the following video conference enhancements will be released for general availability to all clinics:
Improved Incoming Call Notifications
Signal Strength Indicator
Speakerphone Toggle Button
Improved Incoming Call Notifications
Patients using the mobile app will now have a much more prominent notification of an incoming video conference call from their coach. The follow notifications will show full screen on iOS and Android respectively, displaying the name of the coach which is contacting the patient:

Some additional notes and considerations regarding this improvement:
- "App Permissions" Updated
The "App Permissions" section of the app (within the lefthand menu) has been updated to include the additional permission checks needed for these full screen notifications. If a mobile app user does not have the appropriate app and phone permissions granted, they will see a red notification badge and appropriate 'app permission' instruction. - "Do Not Disturb" Takes Precedence
Both iOS and Android have a do not disturb feature which disables or suppresses notifications. These settings are customizable for each user, but will impact this incoming call notification. - Android Notification Screen May Vary
Each Android phone manufacturer (Samsung, Google, LG, HTC, etc...) makes variations to the underlying Android code. As such, the incoming call notification screen may vary for users. Most likely, this will be to show either:- The name and email address of the coach
- The phone number +1 (833) 926 2242, which is an outgoing phone number only
- iOS Supported Devices
Only iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch Devices released in the last few years will fully support this improved incoming notification. Due to performance issues, older devices (released prior to 2017) will continue to display the current notification if the app is in the background, the app is completely closed, or the phone is locked.
Signal Strength Indicator
A small signal strength icon indicator will now be shown in the upper left hand corner of the other call participant's video feed or avatar:
Mobile App (Patient View) | Dashboard (Coach View) | |
![]() |
![]() |
The icon indicates the quality of the audio and video being received by your computer or phone from the other user. One of three statuses will be shown:
Good Quality indicates 80% or more of the audio and video is being received
Fair Quality indicates 30% or more of the audio and video is being received
-
Poor Quality indicates less than 30% of the audio and video is being received
If the quality remains poor for an extended period, the call may unexpectedly drop or disconnect. In addition, to assist in troubleshooting and customer support, the underlying system will now track when calls enter poor quality.
Speakerphone Toggle Button
For both iOS and Android users in the mobile app, a speakerphone toggle button has been added to the active call window:
When the button is clicked, it will toggle the speakerphone speaker on or off.
It is important to note that there is a limitation on iOS devices that, when headphones are connected, speakerphone cannot be toggled on or off. In this case (when headphones are connected to an iOS device) this button will be disabled.
