The Weight Threshold alert type is now available for use by all clinics on the platform. This alert generates a notification when a patient's weight falls outside of a pre-defined threshold over a certain number of days Along with the four other alerts (Weight Regain, Meal Inactivity, Scale Inactivity, and Tracker Inactivity), this alert provides automated feedback and notifications regarding patient progress.
You may setup the Weight Threshold alert for your clinic on the dashboard under Alerts->Settings in the left-hand menu. Unlike the other four alerts, the Weight Threshold alert has the following five settings:
- Gain Window
The number of pounds or kilograms gained, at or beyond which which an alert notification is generated.-
Example If the Gain Window is set to 3 lbs, once a patient has gained at least three pounds during the Weight Threshold alert's day span setting, an alert is generated.
-
- Loss Window
The number of pounds or kilograms lost, at or below which an alert notification is generated.-
Example If the Loss Window is set to 3 lbs, once a patient has lost at least three pounds during the Weight Threshold alert's day span setting, an alert is generated.
-
- Day Span
The number of consecutive days to examine for weight change. This is essentially the window of time for which a weight change will be examined. The first and last recorded weights within this number of consecutive days will be examined. - Require Daily Measurement
If a weight measurement is required for each day of the day span period. If this is set to 'No', then at least two separate days must have a recorded weight. Otherwise, the alert notification will only be generated if every day has a recorded weight.-
Example 1 The Weight Threshold Alert has a Day Span of '5 days', and 'Require Daily Measurement' set to 'Yes'. A patient must have a recorded weight for each of the 5 days in order for an alert notification to be potentially generated.
-
Example 2 The Weight Threshold Alert has a Day Span of '5 days', and 'Require Daily Measurement' set to 'No'. A patient must have a recorded weight on at least two separate days of the alert in order for an alert notification to be potentially generated.
-
Using this setting, be aware that weight can be recorded for any two days within the day span window. For example, if the day span is set for 20 days, a user could record weights on (for example) day 19 and 20 only, and the alert may be triggered.

-
- Trigger Period
Generate an alert notification up to each calendar day, or up to once only at the end of the 'Day Span' setting.-
Example 1 The alert has a 'Day Span' setting of 7 days and a 'Trigger Period' of 'Daily'. An alert could potentially be generated on each day of the week, as each calendar day begins a new 7 day window.
-
Example 2 The alert has a 'Day Span' setting of 7 days and a 'Trigger Period' of 'Only at end of period'. An alert notification may be generated up once per week, as each 'Day Span' is a unique and non-overlapping period.
