Blood pressure can be measured from any area possible, including the upper arm, lower arm, thigh, and lower leg.
If your cuff is too small, we recommend using it around your lower arm.
Measuring your blood pressure using the lower arm:
-
Wrap the cuff around your lower arm making sure the Artery mark is facing the inner arm area.
- Lift your arm up next to your chest (like doing the pledge of allegiance.) This is the same position used with wrist BP cuffs.
- Follow the syncing instructions.
*For providers:
Be sure to document the lower arm as the alternate BP site in your care plan and is necessary based on the patient body habitus.
