Beginning Thursday, December 16, 2021, you may manage which measurement types are exposed to users within your clinic. This update will allow you to optionally alter the default arrangement to expose, hide, group, and order the measurements exposed to patients in the mobile application and coaches on the dashboard.
Default Arrangement
By default, measurement types have been grouped and exposed to both patients and coaches within your clinic using a standard setting. These groupings (composition, circumference, vitals) and measurements (weight, bodyfat, heart rate, ldl cholesterol, etc) are prominently displayed in:
- The mobile app progress section for patients
- The measurements tab of a patient profile on the dashboard for coaches
Specifically, the default groupings and measurements are:
- Composition
- Weight
- Body fat
- Visceral fat weight
- Visceral fat rating
- Visceral adipose tissue
- Hydration
- Circumference
- Waist
- Arm
- Chest
- Hip
- Thigh
- Neck
- Thorax
- Energy
- Steps
- Sleep
- Vitals
- Total cholesterol
- LDL cholesterol
- HDL cholesterol
- VLDL cholesterol
- Triglycerides
- Fasting glucose
- HBA1C
- Insulin
- HSCRP
- Body temperature
- Heart rate
- Blood pressure
- Respiration rate
Terminology
With this update, you will be able to customize both the grouping names, orders, and measurements displayed within each. To begin, two terms are important to understand:
- Category
These are the groupings and respective names for collections of measurement types. They are intended to be used to create browsable sections of similar or related data points, to make them easier to navigate. You are able to define the number of categories used for your clinic and also the names of each category. These categories will be displayed to both patients (in the mobile app) and coaches (on the dashboard). - Data Point Type
An individual measurement type is called a data point type. You may expose any available data point type from the system to users within your clinic. Each data point type has three main characteristics:- Title (e.g. Weight, Body Fat, LDL Cholesterol, etc)
- Unit (e.g. lb, %, in, oz, etc)
- Allowed Range (e.g. 1% - 100%, 20lbs - 2000lbs, 21mmHg - 501mmHg)
The ability to create custom data point types is not exposed on the dashboard. Instead, please contact support@coachcare.com with any requests for a new or custom data point type to be added.
Customization Options
To customize the categories, data point types, order, and additional options, go to Accounts -> Clinics on the dashboard, and select the clinic for which you want to customize the arrangement for. Once you have selected the appropriate clinic, click the Measurements tab. The settings are broken into two main areas:
- Settings
Set if the default or a custom configuration will be used - Category and Data Point Type Arrangement
Create and manage category and data point types. This table in this section displays the current configuration. The categories are listed in order and, when expanded, show the contained data point types.
The Settings area has two options:
- Use Default Measurement Preferences
If Enabled this clinic will continue to use the default arrangement and configuration, and none of the additional settings will be configurable. - Allow Child Clinics to Manage Preferences
For large organizations and clinic groups that have 'child clinics', setting this to Enabled will enforce this clinic's category and data point configuration arrangement to those lower-tier clinics. If enabled, none of the additional settings will be configurable by these child clinics.
The Category and Data Point Type Arrangement has multiple options:
- Add Category
This button allows you to add a new category to the listing below. The Name field is the text displayed in both the mobile app and dashboard, and the Description is for internal use. - Add Data Point Type
This button allows you to select any not-yet-exposed data point type, and add it to an existing category.
To review the exposed options and information- Category is the title of the category into which this data point type will be placed. You may only select from existing categories.
- Data Point Type is the data point type to display. As noted above, you may only select from existing options. If you have a custom or new data point type you would like added, please contact support@coachcare.com with your request.
- Informational Box is read only information about this data point type
- About Displays the name of the data point type
- Unit is the unit display suffix of this data point type
- Allowed Range is the minimum and maximum values for which records can be saved for this data point type
- Internal ID is the internal ID of this data point type, exposed for support reference purposes.
- Reorder
This button allows you to reorder both categories and data point types contained within those categories. This order will be used for both patients and coaches.
Finally, the table exposes the ability to manage both categories and data point types:
- Category
In the screenshot, the Composition category is displayed at the top. The Actions column at the right expose two options- Edit By clicking the pencil icon, you can modify the name and description of the category
- Delete By clicking the trash can. icon, you can remove this category from the configuration. If you remove the category, all contained data point types will also be removed from the configuration.
- Data Point Type
In the screenshot, the Weight data point type is shown at below the Composition category header. Each data point type has the following options, information, and action exposed:- Visibility
Allows you to define which user types can view and manage (add, delete) records for these data point types:- Exposed to Patients
When enabled, this data point type will be displayed to patients in the mobile application. This setting only impacts the visibility of the data. If not exposed to patients, the data will still exist and can be viewed by coaches on the dashboard. - Modifiable by Patients
When disabled, this data point type will only be able to be viewed. Patients will not be able to add or remove the measurements. This is useful for measurements that are only intended to be added by coaches or through a third party integration. - Default for Patients
When enabled, this data point type will, by default, be added to the Summary section of the mobile application for patients. This section stores the favorite and commonly used data point types. All patients will have the ability to unfavorite this data point type. - Modifiable by Coaches
When disabled, this data point type will only be able to be viewed. Coaches will not be able to add or remove the measurements. This is useful for measurements that are only intended to be added by coaches or through a third party integration
- Exposed to Patients
- Bounds references the minimum and maximum values for which records can be saved for this data point type
- Units references the unit display suffix of this data point type
- Visibility
Additional Notes
Below are some additional key points and highlights to this impactful feature update. Please reach out to support@coachcare.com for additional support and guidance.
- Data point can only be exposed once
The Add Data Point Type button allows you to add a measurement to category and expose it to users. However, a single data point type can only be added to one category. The same data point type can not be added to multiple categories. - Placement and order do not impact saved data
The use of categories, their names, and the order selected has no impact on the saved data. Modifying the order or removing a data point type does not impact any of the previously saved data. Further, the category name has no impact or restriction on which data point types it may contain. - Admin permission is required to manage
A coach is required to have the admin permission at or above a clinic to manage (add, remove, modify, etc) any of the clinic's measurement settings. - "Food" is always displayed in the patient profile -> measurements section
The patient profile -> measurement tab will display the clinic's category names below it. In addition, a Food tab will be displayed at the end of the listing by default.
